Facebook employees are frustrated about founder-CEO Mark Zuckerberg's silence on the recent data scandal, reported by Business Insider.
Zuckerberg
has been "missing" after the news that London-based political
cons
ultancy firm Cambridge Analytica accessed private information of 50
million Facebook users.
Fecebook says it was "duped" by the firm.
The firm was hired by Donald Trump during his presidential campaign in 2016.
Zuckerberg did not attend an internal company meeting on Tuesday, the report said.
Many employees also understand the company's defense and are on their employer's side.
"Everybody at Facebook in first year gets immunized to stories about Facebook - or they quit," a former Facebook employee told Business Insider.
"But
there are plenty of people irked about this, about Facebook's silence.
They want Mark to go on TV." the former employee added.
Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg too has not made any public statements.
Facebook' top-level executives are questioning Zuckerberg's silence as well, CNN reports.
Many
high-level officials want Zuckerberg to get involved earlier and put
his name on big issues like the current controversy over Cambridge
Analytica, a top-level executive told CNN. "The
consensus is that we should be more open more quickly and that Mark
needs to be the face on very difficult topics." the source added.
Another source at the company highlighted that Zuckerberg and
Sandberg are expected to make public statements on scandals because they
are brands themselves.
"The thing that sets Facebook apart [from
other tech companies,] "Mark and Sheryl [Sandberg] are brands themselves
... they're pretty widely recognized. They have strong personal brands
and people expect to hear from them when Facebook is in crisis." the
source told CNN.
